Unit 4 tasks are practiced and assessed in medium to heavy traffic conditions. Many of the tasks are similar if not the same as those from the previous unit. The competency standard and road law requirements are also the same as for unit 3.

The final task (30) is a review of units 3 & 4, not including the u-turn in traffic (task 27). During the training and assessment of this unit it is expected that the learner has mastered the System of Car Control, the Rules of Steering, Braking and Observation and they have become a habit while driving. This is a crucial stage in the training program and any tasks that have been achieved should now be mastered and carried out consistently while practicing and training for any new tasks to be assessed. For example, while practicing for negotiating traffic lights (task 28), any lane management or turning in traffic skills should be carried out competently as well.
